If you’re diving into motor performance testing or working with dynamometers, chances are you’ll come across TORQuick, a software developed by Sugawara Laboratories Inc. for controlling and measuring with the DM5001 controller and HB Series dynamometers.
Whether you’re testing DC motors or complex inverter-driven systems, TORQuick provides a user-friendly and highly customizable interface that simplifies the process.
This guide introduces the core features of the TORQuick interface, along with an overview of the available modes and the types of tests you can perform.
1. Torque-Speed (S-T) Characteristic Test
Mode: Point Mode / Sequence Mode
- Measures how torque changes with motor speed
- Ideal for determining motor performance and load behavior
2. Inertia Correction Test
Mode: I.E.C. Mode
- Automatically calculates and compensates for the inertial torque effects
- Useful when testing small motors or systems with high inertia
- Improves accuracy of torque and efficiency measurements
3. Pass/Fail Inspection Test
Mode: Inspection Mode
- Evaluates motors based on preset criteria
- Automatically displays OK/NG (pass/fail) results
- Can be used in production lines or incoming quality control
- Includes auto-save with date, result, and file number
4. Efficiency Measurement
Mode: All modes (especially Point, Sequence, and MANU)
- Calculates:
- Electrical efficiency (EffA, EffB, EffC)
- Mechanical output power vs. input power
- Supports Efficiency Maps: heatmaps of efficiency across speed-torque planes
5. Endurance (Durability) Test
Mode: Sequence Mode
- Repeats measurement conditions up to 10,000 cycles
- Simulates real-world stress conditions
By understanding the capabilities of each mode and how to apply them effectively, we can perform advanced measurements such as inertia correction, efficiency mapping, and endurance testing.
TORQuick not only saves time but also enhances the accuracy and reliability of your motor evaluations.
